ВОЗ объявила пандемию коронавируса: о чем сообщила организация

Всемирная организация здравоохранения (ВОЗ) считает, что нынешняя вспышка в мире болезни, вызванной коронавирусом нового типа, является пандемией.
Об этом заявил в среду на брифинге в Женеве генеральный директор ВОЗ Тедрос Аданом Гебрейесус, пишет УНН.
“Мы пришли к выводу, что болезнь COVID-19 может быть расценена как пандемия”, — сказал он.
Гендиректор предупредил, что слово “пандемия” не следует использовать “неосторожно”. “Если его неправильно использовать, то оно вызовет страх или неоправданное согласие с тем, что борьба проиграна, и это приведет к ненужным страданиям и смертям”, — сказал он. Характеристика нынешней вспышки как пандемии “ничего не меняет в оценке со стороны ВОЗ угрозы вируса”, и не ведет к изменению ее деятельности, а также задач, которые стоят перед странами в борьбе с инфекцией, подчеркнул он. Глава ВОЗ напомнил, что нынешняя вспышка — первая пандемия, вызванная коронавирусом.
Глава ВОЗ заявил, что организация ожидает увеличения количества больных и погибших в ближайшие дни и недели.
Глава организации подчеркнул, что ВОЗ ежедневно призывает страны принимать жесткие меры для борьбы с распространением инфекции. Гебрейесус считает, что страны должны активизировать механизмы реагирования на чрезвычайную ситуацию, сообщать гражданам о существующих рисках и методах защиты, а также изолировать всех заболевших и тех, кто с ними контактировал.
Всего в 114 странах мира зарегистрировано около 118 тысяч случаев заражения COVID-19. При этом, как подчеркнул Гебрейесус, более 90% всех случаев приходится на четыре страны, в двух из которых наблюдается значительное снижение числа заболевших. По словам главы ВОЗ, представители 81 страны не заявляли о заражении своих граждан коронавирусом, в еще 57 странах речь идет о менее 10 заболевших.
